Bedouins free 2 US tourists abducted in Egypt

(AP) ? Security officials say two American tourists who had been kidnapped by Bedouins in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula have been released.

They say the Bedouins snatched the two men early Thursday as they were traveling by car from Dahab to Nuweiba, resort towns on the Red Sea's Gulf of Aqaba. The officials say the two were freed after hours of negotiations between the Bedouins and representatives of the local police and government.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to release the information.

Sinai has seen a series of kidnappings as Bedouins try to pressure authorities to release detained relatives or improve basic services, but the kidnap victims are usually released unharmed.
